Mari’s love for cooking began at just 6 years old in South Texas, standing on a stool by her dad’s side, learning to make tortillas and whip up creative dishes from whatever ingredients were available.
Her upbringing taught her resourcefulness, a love for bold flavors, and the joy of cooking for others.
After years in engineering and a move to Clinton, Mari’s culinary journey took a turn when she worked as a sous chef at a local deli.
Her Tex-Mex fusion nights were a hit, and it was clear she had something special to share.
With the encouragement of her family and community, she launched her food truck and eventually opened Pica Chica, bringing Tex-Mex fusion to the heart of Clinton.
Now, Pica Chica serves up Tex-Mex fusion favorites like Tacos al Pastor (slow-cooked pork with signature spices) and legendary fish tacos—food that’s packed with passion and a dash of South Texas soul.
